Dennis Alvis was born in Rogersville, TN and moved to Morristown in 1959. He attend Hillcrest Elementary, Morristown Jr. High and graduated from Morristown High. He pursued his college degrees from Walters State and East Tennessee State University. Following college, he was employed with the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department for 34 years.
Alvis was has served on City Council for 3 years. He also serves on the Morristown-Hamblen Ambulance Board and the Morristown-Hamblen Recreation Board. He is a former member of the Hamblen County Commission.
He is married to his wife Marlene Davis Alvis and has two children, Lindsay (Alvis) Starnes and Kieth Alvis and enjoys being a grandfather to two grandchildren.
