CORPORATION OF MORRISTOWN
May 9, 2005

The City Council for the City of Morristown, Hamblen County, Tennessee, met in Sine Die session at the regular meeting place of the Council in the Morristown City Center at 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2005 with Honorable Mayor Gary R. Johnson presiding and the following named Councilmembers present: Claude Jinks, Frank McGuffin, William Rooney, Kay Senter and Rick Trent. Absent: Councilmember William Thompson.

Councilmember Jinks made a motion to certify the May 3, 2005 Certificate of Election from the Hamblen County Election Commission and that the results be spread of record as follows. Councilmember Rooney seconded the motion and all voted 'aye'.

(1) Showing the due election of Melvin L. Tucker as Councilmember in the First Ward.

Councilmember Jinks made a motion to adjourn Sine Die; Councilmember Senter seconded the motion and all voted 'aye'.

Councilmembers Kay Senter, Rick Trent and Mel Tucker were sworn in by Judge Herbert M. Bacon.

Upon roll call of the newly seated Council, the following were present: Mayor Gary R. Johnson, Councilmembers Claude Jinks, Frank McGuffin, William Rooney, Kay Senter, Rick Trent and Mel Tucker.

Councilmember Jinks nominated Sammy Campbell for appointment to the Hamblen County Board of Equalization for a two year term to expire May 1, 2007. Councilmember Rooney made a motion that nominations cease and Mr. Campbell be elected by acclamation; all voted 'aye'.

Councilmember Jinks made a motion to appoint Councilmember Frank McGuffin to serve on the Morristown Regional Planning Commission for tenure of office. Councilmember Tucker seconded the motion and made a motion that nominations cease and Councilmember McGuffin be elected by acclamation; all voted 'aye'.

Mayor Johnson adjourned the May 9, 2005 City Council Meeting.
