Q: How do I satisfy a citation?
A: You have various options in order to satisfy a citation.
1.Pay the citation prior to your court date to avoid court fees and court appearance.
2. You may attend a driver improvement program for dismissal.
3. Citations given for light law violations, muffler violations, no driver's license and violation of registration may be dismissed prior to your court date upon presenting to the Morristown Police Department proof the light or muffler has been repaired or registration or driver's license has been obtained. A $25 administrative fee will be applied.
4. If you receive a citation for Violation of Financial Responsibility and had insurance on the date you received the citation, bring proof of your insurance to the Morristown Police Department (make sure it shows activation/expiration dates) and it will be dismissed; however, a $25 administrative fee will be applied. If you did not have insurance on the date you received the citation, you must pay the citation.
Q: How do I attend the driver improvement program?
A: The driver improvement program is available to those who possess a valid driver's license, and who have not attended the class in the past 5 years. To register for class, you must pay the fine at the cashier's office and sign up in person at the Morristown Police Department prior to your court date.
Please note: If you have a commercial drivers license you are not eligible for defensive driving school.
In addition to the fine, the cost of attending class is $40.00; however, once you have completed the class your citation will be dismissed.

A: You may obtain a copy of an accident report by either appearing in person at the Morristown City Center, or by mailing:

Whether you show up in person or mail in your request, you must provide us with the following information:
- Name of one of the drivers involved (not the insured/owner's name).
- Date of the accident.

Criminal History
To obtain a copy of a local (Morrristown City limits only) criminal or arrest history, appear in person with your photo ID and the date of birth of the person you are inquiring about. There is a $10.00 fee for a criminal or arrest history, and it will only include charges and arrests from within the City of Morristown.
