Chaplain Appreciation Day

In honor of Chaplain Appreciation Day on October 11, 2015, the Morristown Police Department would like to thank the MPD’s Chaplain Unit.

The Chaplain Unit was established in 2001 to assist officers with making death notifications, responding to critical incidences, providing support to officers and crisis intervention.  The unit is comprised of 11 volunteer chaplains who serve under the supervision of the department’s Chaplain Liaison, Lieutenant Billy Gulley.  There are four members who have been with the unit since its inception; they are Dr. Ruth Carpenter, Priest John Paul Frietag, David Harris, and Captain Chuck Letterman.

The Chaplain Coordinator is Dr. Chris Dotson.  The unit is a vital asset to the department.  There is a chaplain assigned to each division and special unit.  Just like many of the department’s special units, the Chaplain Unit is also on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The MPD personnel are appreciative of the work this unit does and the support they provide.
