to host Senior Games
Senior Games is the best keep secret in Tennessee. Our district has an event each year during April right in our very own back yard of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. In an effort to boost participation from our area in these district games, the Morristown-Hamblen County Senior Citizens Center and the Morristown Parks and Recreation department have partnered together for the first annual Senior Games. We invite Seniors 50 + to participate in this exciting event to be held on Saturday August 27, 2005 with check in from 8:00 am – 9:00 am at the Morristown Senior Citizen Center 841 Lincoln Avenue.
The games we will be playing are as follows:
Basketball Free Throw
Horseshoes (doubles)
Shuffleboard (singles)
Shuffleboard (doubles)
Softball Throw
Track events will include: Field Events will include:
100m run Javelin
200m run Shot-put
400m run Discus
800m run
1500 m run
All activities will adhere to the rules and guidelines as set forth by the Tennessee Senior Games. The deadline for entry has been extended to April 1, 2005. The registration fee of $15.00 includes a t-shirt, participation in events and certificate of participation.
Anyone living in Hamblen, Hawkins, Hancock, Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, and Claiborne counties are eligible to participate.
Registration forms may be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office or the Morristown Area Senior Citizens Center. Applications my also be obtained via the mail by calling 423-586-0260 or 423-586-6166.

We hope by participating in our games, you will develop an interest to participate at the District Games held in Gatlinburg and then at the Tennessee Senior games in Clarksville.
