Newman, Bowman named Top Cops
From Citizen Tribune
Detective Lt. Christian Newman and Detective Tracey Bowman have been named the super sleuths at the Morristown Police Department for 2007.
Newman, a 19-year veteran, and Bowman, an 11-year veteran recently garnered the MPD's Top Cop award, which recognizes the department's top criminal investigators.
Newman was the top achiever in the Crimes Against Persons Squad. Bowman was recognized for excellence in the Crimes Against Property Squad.
The judging is based, in part, on the number of arrests and the severity of cases worked. Also factored in were professionalism, demeanor and work attendance record.
"It is reflective of the teamwork and leadership in the Detective Division," said Morristown Police Chief Roger Overholt.
Gary Kilgore, who recently retired as MPD detective captain, named Newman and Bowman last year's Top Cops.
“Capt. Kilgore has expressed his regret at not being able to attend the awards presentation, and he commended all of the detectives' work," said Detective Capt. Randall Noe. "He offers his congratulations to Lt. Newman and Detective Bowman on their accomplishments."
This is the second Top Cop award for Newman, who received the honor in 2004.
Both detectives' names have been engraved on the Top Cop plaque posted in the MPD Detective Division.
