The Building Inspections Department of the City of Morristown is responsible for construction and building codes enforcement activities in the City. Department personnel include one licensed building inspector, one licensed plumbing inspector, one licensed electrical inspector, and support staff. The major activities of the department are building plans review, issuance of building permits, and on-site inspections to ensure compliance of all construction projects with City regulations. The department issues all sign permits, interprets various city codes, and enforces the zoning and building regulations adopted by the city.

Generally, inspectors may be reached in the office from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. each business day or by appointment.
