Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

Officers observed a silver Lincoln Town Car run through a stop sign on Tuesday night near Brown Avenue which led to the discovery of 134.6 grams of marijuana and almost $4,000 in cash. Jesus Ramirez Pacheco, 19, of East AJ Highway in Morristown refused to give consent to search his vehicle, however; after detecting the odor of marijuana coming from his car officers requested the assistance of a drug detection K9.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded the marijuana along with drug scales, plastic baggies, and $3,931in cash.  Pacheco stated to officers that he is unemployed.

MPD narcotics agents estimate the street value of the marijuana could be between $1,300-$1,500.

Pacheco was charged with Running a Stop Sign, Sale and Delivery of Schedule VI Drug, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Cancelled, Suspended, or Revoked, Violation of Financial Responsibility Law, and Violation of the Drug Free School Zone Act.

He is currently incarcerated in the Hamblen County Jail with a $40,000 bond.  He is scheduled for arraignment on Friday morning.
