At approximately 10:00 am on February 13, 2018, officers were dispatched to 3415 Dedra Street in Morristown to respond to a domestic situation.  Once on the scene, officers encountered a male subject who was attempting to enter a residence through a back window.  Officers gave verbal commands to the subject to stop and show his hands.  The suspect initially complied with the officers and as officers attempted to handcuff him he pulled away and drew a gun.  The officer drew his service weapon and fired; striking the suspect in the chest.  The suspect was transported to U.T. Medical Center.  The officer was not harmed.

Per MPD policy, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is on scene and will investigate the circumstances of the incident.
