Heritage Park is located at 435 N. James Street in Morristown, the former site of Morristown College.
Heritage Park sits on the former site of Morristown College. For over a century, the college played a significant role in our community and for each of its alumni. It was one of only 2 higher-educational institutions for African Americans in East Tennessee prior to the civil rights movement. It stood as a landmark in Morristown until it was closed in 1994. After years of neglect, the City stepped in to revitalize the site and create a new public space. Heritage Park now sits as a remembrance of the college and a recreational space for generations to come. The City is excited to open this new park and invites you to join us in a day of festivities to honor the history of the college and look forward to the future of Heritage Park.
The day's events include:
-Live music concert by former Voice contestants Chris Blue and Emily Ann Roberts
-Performances by local band Further Born and Nashville Singer/Songwriter Stuart Clawson
-Gospel music by Sacred Calling
-Fireworks Show
-Food trucks
-Historical displays and speakers
